The internet is full of misinformation and disinformation, and it can be daunting to try and sort fact from fiction on social media. In this one hour fact-checking short course from Poynter’s MediaWise, you’ll learn the basics of misinformation, how to quickly fact-check suspicious posts, and how to identify even the sneakiest of online ads.

We will not be telling you how to feel about topics or issues. Instead, we will teach you how to identify digital misinformation and disinformation. Our goal is to help you make decisions that impact your life and your health, based on reliable, trustworthy information.

What is MediaWise?

MediaWise is a digital media literacy initiative led by The Poynter Institute. Our mission is to teach Americans of all ages how to sort fact from fiction online.
